Christmas Events

Come and immerse yourself in all things Christmas this year at Coed-y-Dinas. Whether you’re coming to have a look around our Christmas department or you’d like to come along to one of our events, you’ll be sure to leave full to the brim of festive cheer and spirit.

Our ever-popular events tend to fill up quickly and booking is essential.


Meet Santa in his Grotto

Take a walk through the beautiful, frosty forest – full of wonderful winter animals. Hidden between the pines you’ll find the magical Elf Workshop. Step inside and you’ll find Santa keeping his eye on the toy making progress. He’ll welcome you into his Grotto where every child will receive a wrapped up gift to take away. 

Grotto visits are £7 per child and includes a wrapped gift. Available on selected dates throughout November and December.

Tea with Santa

Santa loves nothing more than treating himself to tea in our restaurant on Thursday and Friday evenings in December. He’d love you to join him for a bite to eat and to sing some songs. As well as activities, each child will get to meet him and receive a wrapped up gift! 

Tea with Santa takes place in small groups of 15 children maximum in Howards restaurant. The event will last an hour and is run by our silly elves and Santa.

It will include (per child):

  • A children’s meal, soft drink and dessert.
    Menu options: Chicken Nuggets, Macaroni Cheese, Sausage, Cheese and Tomato Pizza (all served with beans and a choice of chips or veg). Dessert is Jelly and Ice Cream
  • A wrapped present
  • Seated place, hot drink (tea / filter coffee) and mince pie for 1 accompanying adult per child.

Tea with Santa is £12.99 per child and takes place in our restaurant from 5pm – 6pm on  Thursday 5th December, Friday 6th December, Thursday 12th December, Friday 13th December, Thursday 19th December and Friday 20th December.

Reading with Mrs Claus

You can often find Mrs Claus doing her Christmas shopping at Coed-y-Dinas! She’d like to invite you and your little ones to come along for some Christmas stories and songs with her before she dashes back to the North Pole.

Perfect for pre-school ages, Reading with Mrs Claus is free of charge to come along to but booking is essential.

During the 45 minutes with Mrs Claus and her elf, your little ones will hear some Christmas stories and some festive songs.

Reading with Mrs Claus will be held from 9.30am – 10.15am on  Friday 6th December, Friday 13th December and Friday 20th December.

Christmas Flower Demonstration with Sionedd Hughes

Come along for a wonderful evening watching the incredibly talented, award-winning NAFAS demonstrator, Sionedd Hughes, create some beautiful Christmas flower arrangements.

Join us from 7pm on Friday 8th November for a Christmas Flower Arranging Demonstration at Coed-y-Dinas. We promise you a wonderful evening of fun and flowers – come along and get some early inspiration for your Christmas decorations!

Tickets are £10 per person and will include mulled wine, mince pies and tea/coffee with all profits going to the Welsh Air Ambulance.

Start time: 7pm (doors open from 6.30pm)

Entry is by ticket only with limited spaces, please book early.

Christmas Wreath Workshop

We’ll have Christmas music and mince pies aplenty so not only will you leave full to the brim of festive cheer, but also with a wreath made by your very own hands!

As well as help and guidance from the fantastic Leanne of Serendipity, you’ll be given all the materials you need to create a beautiful wreath to take away.

We have the following workshops:

  • 10.30am – 12.30pm: Saturday 7th December – SOLD OUT
  • 1.30pm – 3.30pm: Saturday 7th December
  • 10.30am – 12.30pm: Sunday 8th December
  • 1.30pm – 3.30pm: Sunday 8th December

There are limited places available at each workshop, so booking is essential.

£35 per person. Included in the price: all the materials needed to make your wreath, a hot drink (tea, coffee and mulled wine), mince pies and guaranteed Christmas spirit.

Please note:

  • Bookings must be paid for in advance using our booking system.
    Payment must be made with Paypal (you will be automatically directed to Paypal’s secure payment service during the booking process).
  • Bookings cannot be made less than 24 hours in advance.
  • Changes cannot be made to existing bookings less than 12 hours in advance.
  • Adult supervision is required at all times for Grotto visits, Tea with Santa and Reading with Mrs Claus.
  • Tea with Santa bookings include a seated place for one adult. Up to 2 adults can accompany each child but we can only guarantee seating for one adult per child.
  • The number of visiting children must be specified upon booking. We are unable to accept additional children for a booking on the day.
  • Due to health and safety, a maximum of 4 children are allowed to enter the grotto under one booking.
